Basic installation rules

When installing a fan in a bathroom or toilet, you must:

  • place the device opposite the door under the ceiling. In this case, make a small gap in the door from the floor (approximately 2 cm). If a gap is not provided under the door, the efficiency of the fan is reduced to zero;
  • protect the fan from water getting inside;
  • the plastic box is mounted using special fasteners;
  • For difficult areas, use a corrugated doctor data box. It can be soft or more rigid.

The main stages in which the work will be carried out are:

  • Preparation;
  • installation of fan and box;
  • electrical cable wiring;
  • Checking the functionality of the device.

Preparation, which consists of cleaning the ventilation duct, was described above. Then a hole is prepared for the fan. The opening for the device is widened using a grinder, chisel and hammer. The opening should be of such a size that the fan “sinks” into it. Only the grille should be visible use synonyms and variations the outside. The fan is attached with liquid nails, glue or dowels. In addition, a sealant is used to soundproof the operation of the device.

Installing the switch

Electrical wiring consists of the following stages:

  • power outages on the panel;
  • supplying cable from the switch to the fan;
  • finishing works;
  • power supply on;
  • performance checks.

After the power supply is disconnected, the fan is powered. To do this, a cable is run from a two-pole switch to the device. A three-wire cable with a 3-wire italy numbers is used. It is advisable to use a two-pole switch, where one contact (button) will turn on the light in the room, and the other – the fan. This is a very convenient option, but most often residents forget to turn on the ventilation button.

How to connect a fan correctly

The solution is to use a voltage relay. It is possible to simultaneously turn on the light and ventilation with one button of a two-pole switch. To do this, the relay is placed in the circuit. When you press the button to turn on the light in the bathroom, the current from the machine goes to the relay and closes the contact on the second button of the switch (for the fan). This ensures constant ventilation with the light on in the room.

If you need to make separate lighting in the Basic installation rulesand toilet, then a three-pole circuit breaker is used. Only in this case 2 voltage relays are used. You can also install a timer that will ensure the operation of the device for some time after the power is turned off.

Cable supply

After the switch is installed, a cable is run from it to the fan. A three-core cable is used, where the 3rd core is the grounding one. To do this, you need to groove the wall. The cable is laid there, then covered with putty and left for a while until the material dries. After this, you can start finishing the wall.

If the bathroom has already been renovated, then open cable wiring is done in a special box, which is mounted with special fasteners. But the first wiring option is preferable.

After the cable is connected to the fan, a protective grille is installed on it. It is installed on screws or special latches. After that, you can connect the power supply on the panel and check the operability of the device. If you are not confident in connecting the device to the network on your own, it is better to seek help from specialists.

Installing forced ventilation in the bathroom and toilet allows you to solve the ventilation problem. It is not very easy to organize such a system, but with proper planning and consultation of specialists, the problem can be solved and installation is possible. Modern automation systems make hoods very convenient and effective.

Extractor hood for bathroom, toilet or toilet

The exhaust hood in the bathroom and toilet should be selected and installed so that there is an intensive flow of fresh air. Such a ventilation system will help get rid of unpleasant odors in the bathroom, as well as mold and mildew that arise due to excess moisture.

In this article we will talk about the types of ventilation for the bathroom and toilet, the choice of a hood for a combined bathroom, which can also serve as a good interior element of the room, its correct installation and operation.

Ventilation in the bathroom and toilet

The bathroom hood has a very simple design – in fact, it is an elementary forced ventilation system. It consists of a maximum of two parts – an air duct that connects to the ventilation riser of the house, and the fan itself.

Despite such a simple design, it works perfectly, and most importantly, it copes with the duties assigned to it 100%.

Since we have come to the conclusion that the hood is nothing more than ventilation, we should understand the principle of its operation. In almost all houses it functions in a supply and exhaust manner.

If you suddenly do not find a second ventilation duct that provides an influx of fresh air, know that it is provided by airing the apartment or house as a whole. That is why in some situations the duct intended for the removal of exhaust air from the room in the bathroom can work as an influx.

This state of affairs is a sign of completely or partially clogged air ducts. This often happens in apartment buildings, but in private buildings this effect is almost never encountered. It is for this same reason that most people living in high-rise buildings equip their bathrooms with a forced exhaust air removal system.

Exhaust electric fan

Let’s start by dividing all modern bathroom hoods into two types: simple and automatic. What’s the difference between them? The latter require minimal human involvement in the air exchange process.

Simple hoods are a regular electric fan placed in a tubular housing. They can be switched on either by a built-in switch or a separate switch. A fairly common way to switch it on is by pressing the switch that controls the bathroom lighting.

This approach to the matter is not quite correct, since in this case the removal of polluted air is carried out only when there is a person in the room. But the moisture does not have time to evaporate during this time. Therefore, it is advisable to install a separate switch for the fan.

Automatic hood. It differs from the regular one only by the presence of electronics that controls its operation. Such devices can operate using two different methods – some of them are equipped with a switch-off timer (they are turned on, like a regular hood, using a switch key), and others have special sensors that control the humidity in the bathroom.

As soon as it exceeds the permissible value, the fan turns on, after the humidity returns to normal, it turns off. These are quite convenient devices that do not require human intervention to control their operation.
