The competition for summer camps is tough

Summer vacations at Canadian elementary schools are long – two full months. If you’re used to summer vacations in Japan, it can be a bit of a culture shock. Families who send their children to after-school daycare can rest assured that they will be covered over summer vacation as usual. However, if, like my family, you don’t send your children to daycare, you have to think about how you’re going to spend those two months with your child. This “how to spend the time” problem is a bigger deal than you might think.

The summer camps run by

The local community centers are very c level contact list popular because they are cheap and of good quality. Applications open in March. They start at exactly 10:00. However, they are full at 10:00. 10:01 is too late. You have to apply at exactly 10:00.

This year, I had a company meeting at 10 o’clock. So I was planning to give my husband a lecture, saying, “Please do this at 10 o’clock.” However, my child’s illness caused that plan to be blown away. I realized it was 10:30. I hurriedly opened the website, and all the pages were already filled with the word “full.”

It’s a pity. This year, a new community center opened in front of our house. I was hoping that it would be close and easy to get to and from. The price was also reasonable at $150 to $160 a week.

But my luck wasn’t over yet

I applied for a place at an arts community cost reduction best practice center, and I was able to secure a spot there for a week. It was a bit pricey at $250. But the facilities were amazing. There was a merry-go-round, and it was like an outdoor museum with an image of “good old Canada” in the style of Nikko Edomura in Japan. “Well, I guess $250 is okay for this…” I told myself.

However, summer vacation is two months long, so even if one week is filled, there are still seven more weeks to go.

There is a summer school run by a school in Canada for the first three weeks of July. This is also competitive. Applications open at the beginning of April. Morning classes are free, but afternoon classes are charged. And afternoon classes fill up quickly. Last year I was only able to apply for the morning classes. This year I want to get an afternoon class as well. The movie-making class looks interesting.

For the remaining three weeks in August

I signed up for three consecutive south africa business directory parkour summer camps. My son loves parkour and is friendly with the coaches. I’m grateful to have a place where I can send him with peace of mind. The problem is the price. $289… x 3 weeks… If you calculate it calmly, you’ll think it’s expensive. But it’s impossible to entertain an 8-year-old at home for two months. It’s definitely better to have him move his body outside than to spend his time on YouTube and playing games. So this is a necessary expense.

Even so, the competition for summer camps is fierce every year. It has the same vibe as the competition for nursery schools in Japan. Or rather, this may be even more difficult. There is little information available. Many sites do not have reliable websites, and I often find myself wondering, “Is this information correct…?” In the end, the best thing to rely on is a network of local mommy friends.
